Install Firmware

This installs the Pinscape Controller software onto a new KL25Z.
Important: if you haven't already upgraded the factory boot loader on this KL25Z, please go back and do so now. The firmware installation process won't work properly until the boot loader is updated.

Step 1: Select a firmware version to install

Step 2: Unplug other KL25Z's

This is going to sound like one of those tech support phone scripts for dummies, but it's important...
If you have more than one KL25Z unit, please disconnect all of the other units now. Make sure both ports are disconnected on all devices. This will avoid any confusion about which device we're programming.
When you're ready, click here to continue.

Step 3: Plug in programming port

Plug in the programming port on the new KL25Z, as shown at right. The small green LED next to the programming port should be on (not flashing), and a drive representing the device should appear below. If the green LED is flashing, unplug all USB cables from the KL25Z, wait a few seconds, then plug the programming port back in. When the device is ready, click on the drive below to continue.
(No KL25Z programming drives are current detected.)
Warning: it looks like more than one KL25Z programming port is plugged in. If you know which one is which, you can click on it in the list above - but if there's any doubt, the easiest way to clear it up is to make sure that the only one plugged in is the one you want to program.

Step 4: Install firmware

We're ready to go! Install now
The firmware was successfully installed!

Step 5: Plug in joystick port

The new firmware has been installed. Please plug in the joystick port on the KL25Z, as shown at right.
If you only have one USB cable, you can unplug it from the programming port and move it over to the joystick port. It's also okay to leave both ports plugged in if you have a second cable.
We'll automatically proceed to the next step when we detect that the device is connected. If the device won't connect properly or these instructions are still displayed after you plug it in, try these steps:
  • Reset the KL25Z by pressing its reset button
  • Unplug it completely (both ports), wait a few moments, and plug it back in
  • If none of that works, the firmware installation might not have worked after all. You might try going back and repeating the installation process.
Device connected

Done!

The firmware update was successfully completed.
You're now ready to configure the device settings. If you have other KL25Z units, please wait to reconnect them until after you've configured the new unit and saved its new settings. It's particularly important that you assign a unique LedWiz unit number to each device to avoid USB conflicts.
